Johannes Steenstrup (1844-1935) and the Rhetoric of Historiography in Denmark

Abstract

Historiography is not only history, but also literature, and therefore rhetoric in historiography is a very interesting field. This article explores the topic focusing on the Danish historian Johannes Steenstrup (floruit around 1900). He used rhetoric both explicitly and in elemets in his style, including a number of fine metaphors.
